I hope you all are having a wonderful Thursday morning! Today's post title was inspired by the ever so talented Khia who obviously is an advocate of the green way of life. Why spend time, energy and money on an air conditioner when you can have people lick every inch of your epidermis!
Here's a little history lesson, in Polynesian "ta" means to strike something, the tahitian word ‘tatau’ which means ‘to mark something’. Created by inserting colored materials to the upper layers of the epidermis (oh maybe Khia has something to do with this?). Tattoo's are used throughout history for a number of purposes ranging from rites of passage to identification to just pure aesthetic beauty. In the present day tattoos have lost their once taboo reputation of being the marker for rebels, gangs and jail harden criminals. Now the people you least expect, your local priest, your boss, even your children (that's right! Haven't you wondered why your son or daughter refuses to wear shirts with out sleeves? Check that shit) are "inked-up". The common folk usually get one or two little palm size tattoos in places that are easily hidden if the need ever arise, but there are a few who enjoy the process so much (some claiming to be addicted to the noise of the tattoo gun) they are inked all over, even on areas that hold the most stigmas like THE FACE! This being my first one I'll try not to go too cray-cray:P
That is what I wanna get. I drew it myself. It's a combination of a treble and bass clef. The staff lines going through it are actually gashes. Aside from what I think looks very cool it also has a meaning. As some of you may know I am a singer and I know that no matter what music, singing will always be a part of my life and this says to me that music will always be inside of me. It's about palm size. I want it in black with touches of dark blood/satin red. I've been pondering for a while and I feel like getting it on my upper back would be a good/safe idea. I can cover it up when I'm performing and stuff of that nature.I'm looking into getting it at Green Man in West Hartford(website below), I've yet to get it priced it shouldn't be too too bad.
So here's my question readers! Do you think I should get the tattoo? If so would you suggest another place that I should get it on my body or a tattoo studio that I should go get it at? I'll update you on my inking status soon!

It's really thought-provoking - if it means that much to you, you should do it and not care what other people think. As far as parlors, it all depends on personal preference and pricing, but you're right, that one shouldn't be too bad. As far as location, the upper back is ideal IF you perform in clothes that don't have a low cut back. Remember to always think through your wardrobe!! (That's why I'm getting one on my hip or tummy!)
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!
It is really funny that we both recently wrote posts about tattoos!
ReplyDeleteMy sister had hers done at Precise in Bristol/Newington/Not exactly which town it was, but we had to go there because she's still 16 and no one else would do it.
I think your design is beautiful and true to who you are, so you should go for it! My sister said it hurts but she was able to listen to music and got through the process just fine. I'm just a wimp so I personally couldn't ever do it. :)
Do it.
